Program Overview

The postdoctoral program fosters interactions between recent PhD graduates and Millennium scientists for mutual benefit. Millennium scientists provide training in the execution of high quality science in an area of interest to the graduate and the company.

A foundation of the program is timely communication of results, as presentations and publications at prestigious meetings or in peer-reviewed journals, according to company communication guidelines.

Mentors are expected to provide training that expands post-docs' scientific expertise to enable their growth into independent academic or industrial scientific investigators. Millennium benefits from the interaction through an infusion of new ideas and cutting-edge research.

Research Areas

The typical area of focus is protein homeostasis pathways, ie the ubiquitin proteasome and autophagy systems. These are emerging areas of biology with opportunities to investigate the biology and biochemistry of novel pathways, proteins and their impact on cell growth and survival. Research focuses on key biological questions to help define the role of specific proteins in cancer.
